How to Use the Free DNS Lookup Tool at Hostcry

Want to check the DNS records of any domain? Hostcry's free DNS Lookup tool lets you instantly view DNS records from 25 global locations no account required. Follow this simple step-by-step guide to get started.

Step 1: Open the Explore Menu:

First, visit the Hostcry homepage. In the top navigation header, hover your mouse over the "Explore" menu. A dropdown popup window will appear with a list of available free tools.

Step 2: Open the DNS Lookup Tool:

Inside the dropdown menu, look for and click on "DNS Lookup". You will be taken directly to the tool page where you will see the heading:

Step 3: Enter Your Domain Name:

Once the tool page is open, you will see a search bar in the center of the screen. Type any domain name you want to check in the input field. For example:

  • google.com
  • facebook.com
  • yourwebsite.com

Step 4: Select Your DNS Record Type:

Next to the domain input field, you will see a dropdown menu for selecting the DNS record type. Click on it and choose the record type you want to check. Available record types include:

  • A — Points domain to an IPv4 address
  • AAAA — Points domain to an IPv6 address
  • CNAME — Points domain to another domain name
  • MX — Mail server records for email delivery
  • TXT — Text records for verification and security
  • NS — Nameserver records (selected by default)
  • SOA — Start of Authority records

After selecting your record type, click the Check DNS button or simply press Enter.

Step 5: View Your DNS Results:

Once the check is complete, the tool will display the DNS records for your domain. The results are shown from 25 global locations so you can verify that your DNS is correctly propagated worldwide. You can also:

  • Share your results using the shareable link generated after the check
  • Check multiple record types by changing the dropdown and running the check again.
