How to Point Your Domain to Hostcry (Updating Nameservers)

If you registered your domain with another provider (like GoDaddy, Namecheap, or Google Domains) but want to host your website with Hostcry, you need to tell your domain where to "look" for your files. This is done by updating your Nameservers.

What are Hostcry’s Nameservers?

To point your domain to our servers, use the following nameservers:

  • ns1.hostcry.com
  • ns2.hostcry.com
Note: If you are on a Reseller or VPS plan, please check your "Welcome Email" for your specific custom nameservers.

Step-by-Step Instructions

1. Log in to your Domain Registrar.

Go to the website where you originally purchased your domain (the "Registrar") and log in to your account dashboard.

2. Find DNS Management.

Look for a section labeled "My Domains," "DNS Management," or "Nameservers." Select the domain you want to use with Hostcry.

3. Change Nameservers to Custom.

Most registrars have a setting that says "Use default nameservers." You need to change this to "Custom Nameservers" or "Enter my own nameservers."

4. Enter Hostcry Nameservers.

Delete any existing nameservers and replace them with:

  1. ns1.hostcry.com
  2. ns2.hostcry.com

Leave any other fields (like ns3 or ns4) empty. Save your changes.

5. Wait for Propagation.

This is the most important part! Nameserver changes are not instant. It takes time for the internet’s "phonebook" to update worldwide.

  • Typical time: 2 to 4 hours.
  • Maximum time: Up to 48 hours.

How to Check if it’s Working

You don’t have to guess when your site will be ready. We’ve built a dedicated tool to help you track the progress in real-time.

  1. Visit our Hostcry DNS Checker.
  2. Enter your domain name in the search bar.
  3. Ensure the record type is set to NS (Nameserver).
  4. Click Check.

Our tool will ping servers across the globe. Once you see ns1.hostcry.com and ns2.hostcry.com appearing in the results, your domain is successfully connected to our infrastructure!
