How to Create a Sub-Account in cPanel User Manager (Step-by-Step).

Step 1: Open the User Manager Tool:

  1. Log in to your cPanel account.

  2. Scroll down to the Preferences section and click on User Manager.

Step 2: Click on Add User:

  • On the top right corner of the User Manager dashboard, click the Add User button.

Step 3: Enter the User's Basic Information:

Fill out the form with the following details:

  • Full Name: Enter the user’s actual name (e.g., John Doe).

  • Username: Choose a unique username (e.g., john). This will serve as their login ID.

  • Domain: If you host multiple domains, select the specific domain this account should belong to.

  • Contact Email Address: Enter the user’s personal email address where they can receive password reset links and system notifications.

Step 4: Configure Password & Security:

You have two options for setting up the password:

  • Option A (Recommended): The user will set the account password. Selecting this sends an email to the user with a link to configure their own secure password.

  • Option B: Set the user’s password. Select this if you prefer to create a strong password manually and share it with them directly.

Step 5: Configure Services (Email, FTP, Web Disk):

Scroll down to the services section and toggle Enable (On) for the permissions you want to grant:

  • Email: Turn this on to create a custom @yourdomain.com email inbox for the user. You can also set their inbox quota limit here.

  • FTP: Enable this if they need to upload files to the website. You can restrict them to a specific folder (directory) so they cannot view your other system files.

  • Web Disk: Turn this on if you want them to navigate and manage server files directly from their desktop or mobile device.

Step 6: Create the Account:

  • Review all the settings, scroll to the bottom of the page, and click the Save or Create button.

The sub-account is now successfully created!
